Bornomala Keyboard sends nothing you type to our servers, and shares nothing with anyone. You do not need an account, and the keyboard shows no ads.

What stays on your phone

For word suggestions, the keyboard remembers new words you type and which word you type after which. This stays only on your phone: it is never sent anywhere and is left out of the phone's backup. Nothing is learned in private fields such as passwords. In the "Word suggestions" part of the keyboard's settings you can turn learning off, see and change "My words", and clear all learned words.

The settings you choose (such as colours and letter size) and your recently used emoji are also kept on your phone. If the phone's backup is on, Android may back these up to your own Google account; we cannot see them.

Voice typing

When you tap the mic button, your speech goes to the phone's speech service (usually Google), which turns it into text. When online, this happens over the internet, and that service's own privacy policy applies. Bornomala Keyboard itself records and keeps nothing.

Handwriting

Handwriting (the pen button) is read entirely on the phone. Neither what you write nor any usage statistics are ever sent. Only the first time, a file for each language (about 20 MB) is downloaded from Google, which needs the internet. You can delete these files in the "Handwriting" part of the keyboard's settings.

Permissions

• Microphone: only for voice typing. The phone asks the first time you tap the mic; without it, the rest of the keyboard works as normal.
• Internet and network state: to download the handwriting files, and to choose between online and on-phone voice typing.

Removing everything

Uninstalling the app removes all words and settings kept on your phone.

Children

Bornomala Keyboard collects no information from anyone, including children.

Fonts

The key labels use the Kalpurush font (SIL Open Font License) and the Siyam Rupali font (GNU General Public License), both from the Avro Font Development Project. We modified both slightly: the dotted circle (◌) that appears when a kar or hasanta is shown alone on a key is left empty. Nothing else is changed, and the modified fonts are used only to draw the keys, under the same licences. To get the modified font files, write to support@bornomalakeyboard.com.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version is shown in the app and on this page, with the date above.
